Do you use OCR, AI/LLMs, or both?
Both, depending on your documents. OCR (Tesseract) handles scanned images and PDFs; LLM/VLM extraction (Claude, GPT, or open models) handles fields that need context or vary in layout. I'll recommend the right mix for your case rather than defaulting to the most expensive option.
What stops the AI from just making something up?
Every extracted value is checked against the source document text before it's trusted, and every value passes a deterministic validation gate (e.g. line items must sum to the subtotal) before anything is auto-approved. The AI proposes; arithmetic disposes.
Can this handle scanned images, not just digital PDFs?
Yes — the OCR stage is built for both
Can you integrate this with my existing accounting software, ERP, or database?
