I will be your structural sensitivity reader for authentic, socially aware stories
Structural Sensitivity Reader, Writer, and Content Specialist
About this Gig
The truth is that the most significant sensitivity concerns are not found at the line level, they are deeply structural and woven into the very fabric of your story.
Whereas a quick scan may be able to help you spot tropes, stereotypes, and offensive language, it cannot tell you how a character's arc over 300 pages reveals your implicit biases. It cannot tell you how the protagonist's language patterns reflect a history of code-switching or neurodivergent masking. And it cannot tell you how a character with a certain trauma history may feel threatened by their love interest's very public marriage proposal.
My approach to sensitivity reading is gentle, collaborative, and rooted in 4 years of writing and auditing inclusive content, 10+ years working in youth and community services, and nearly three decades of lived experience at the intersection of race, gender, neurodivergence, and chronic illness.
You'll receive: inline feedback, a detailed breakdown of each area of concern, and actionable revision strategies w/ an optional model revision, glossary, and resource list for further self-guided learning.
My goal is never to police your work, but to help it land with care.

FAQ
What is a sensitivity reading?
A sensitivity reading is a close, thoughtful review of your work to flag potential issues with representation and authenticity, particularly in regards to the depiction of marginalized people and identities.
Is a sensitivity reader the same as an editor?
Not exactly. A traditional editor may focus on things like grammar, punctuation, plot, and pacing. A sensitivity reader focuses on how a specific identity or culture is portrayed. I like to include developmental feedback when it overlaps, but that's more of a personal preference than a hard rule.
Will I be judged for getting things wrong?
Not at all! Most writers enlist sensitivity readers because they care deeply about "getting it right." I would never judge someone for trying to reduce harm. I approach every project with respect and empathy—and my goal is always to support you and your growth, not to shame or scold you.
Do you offer flexible or sliding-scale prices for marginalized authors?
Yes! I offer sliding scale pricing for low-income, self-taught, and/or marginalized writers—especially those without access to traditional support structures like MFA programs or fellowships. Check out the Sensitivity Report Packages doc for more info!
Do you offer sensitivity readings for more complex works or manuscripts over 50k words?
Absolutely! If your project is longer than 50k words, or highly specialized (such as multiple intersecting identities, multiple POVs, or lore-heavy SFF), please reach out to discuss a custom quote.
