I will double sensitivity read your nigerian and west african stories
About this Gig
Two Nigerian sisters reading your story the way it was meant to be understood.
We're Omo & Lara born, raised, and deeply rooted in Nigerian and West African culture. If your story is set in Nigeria or West Africa, or features Nigerian or African characters, we make sure it feels real not like a Google-search version of our world.
Writing about a culture that isn't your own (or wanting to get your own heritage just right) is brave, and it matters. One wrong name, one misused proverb, one dish served at the wrong occasion, and a reader who knows will feel it instantly. We catch those things gently, respectfully, and with full explanations so you understand the why, not just the what.
What our double sensitivity read covers:
- Character names
- Language, slang, pidgin & expressions
- Food, dress, religion, festivals & traditions
- Cultural stereotypes
- Family dynamics, naming customs, greetings & social etiquette
- Representation
Why double? You get two Nigerian readers, not one. Two sets of eyes, two perspectives, two cultural gut-checks because culture isn't one-size-fits-all, and a second reader catches what the first might miss.

FAQ
What's the difference between sensitivity reading and beta reading?
Beta reading looks at the whole story plot, pacing, characters. Sensitivity reading focuses on cultural accuracy and respectful representation. This gig is sensitivity reading, but you can add developmental feedback as an extra if you want both.
I'm not Nigerian/African can I still order?
Absolutely, and we'd love that! Many of our clients are writers from outside Africa who want to portray Nigerian or West African characters and culture respectfully. That's exactly what we're here for.
Do you cover all of West Africa?
We're strongest on Nigeria (Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa and more) and the wider West African context. If your story centers on a specific country or ethnic group, message us first so we can confirm we can do it justice.
Will you judge or criticize my writing?
Never. We're warm, honest, and here to help not to tear you down. Every note comes with a *why* and a suggested fix so you learn as you go.
Is my manuscript safe with you?
100%. Your work stays completely confidential and is never shared. It's your story always.
