Payments are the one part of your backend that can't be mostly right. A retried webhook that credits twice, or an in-app purchase that is never verified with the store, costs real money.


I've built this in production: at MMA Finds, a marketplace I co-founded and built as the only engineer, payments and credits run through a ledger with idempotency keys, covering Stripe, App Store and Google Play purchases. 5+ years of backend work with Kotlin, Java and Spring Boot, including services for Austria's largest banking group.
