I will translate and localize fiction and scripts to spanish
Ghostwriter and Editor
About this Gig
Your story should not lose its voice when it crosses into Spanish.
I will translate and localize English fiction or narrative scripts into natural Latin American Spanish. I do not simply replace each sentence with its nearest equivalent. I consider who is speaking, what they mean, what they hide, and how the rhythm carries the scene.
I am a native Spanish speaker from Uruguay and an English-language fiction writer and editor. I specialize in fantasy, horror, LitRPG, and science fiction.
I will preserve and adapt:
- Character voice, dialogue, tone, and subtext
- Idioms, humor, wordplay, and cultural references
- Names, invented terms, ranks, stats, skills, and worldbuilding terminology
- Grammar, punctuation, readability, and natural flow
Neutral Latin American Spanish is the default. Rioplatense Spanish is available on request.
Every translation is completed and reviewed by me. I do not use generative AI or machine translation on client orders.
This gig is for written narrative text, not transcription, subtitling, or technical/legal material.
For work over 3,000 words, message me for a custom offer.
All the best,
Victor.

FAQ
Which variety of Spanish will you use?
I translate into neutral Latin American Spanish by default, avoiding region-specific vocabulary where possible. I can also localize the text into Rioplatense Spanish for readers in Uruguay and Argentina. Tell me your target audience before I begin.
Do you use AI or machine translation?
No. I translate and review every line myself. I may consult dictionaries and reference sources when researching terminology, but I do not use generative AI or machine-translation output to complete client orders.
What kind of material can I send?
English-language short stories, novel chapters, fiction manuscripts, narrative YouTube scripts, and other story-driven written material. This gig translates from English into Spanish only.
What does localization include?
Localization adapts the effect of the original rather than copying every expression literally. I account for character voice, idioms, humor, wordplay, cultural references, sentence rhythm, and the intended Spanish-speaking audience.
Which genres and subjects do you accept?
I specialize in fantasy, horror, LitRPG, and science fiction, and I can work with other narrative genres. Dark themes, violence, and mature subject matter are welcome, but I do not accept erotica or sexually explicit projects.
Is proofreading included?
Yes. I proofread the Spanish translation for grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency, and natural flow. This does not include editing or correcting the original English source.
Which file formats do you accept?
Editable DOCX files are preferred. I can also work with text files or editable Google Docs. I preserve basic paragraphs, italics, and dialogue structure, but book layout, KDP formatting, and graphic design are not included.
What does the included revision cover?
A revision covers corrections or reasonable wording and tone adjustments based on the original brief. It does not cover newly added text, changing the target Spanish variant after delivery, or rewriting material outside the original order.
What if my project exceeds 3,000 words?
Message me before ordering with the total word count, genre, target Spanish variant, and desired timeline. I will create a custom offer with a realistic price and chapter-by-chapter delivery schedule.
Can I test your translation before committing to a full manuscript?
Yes. The Basic package can be used as a 500-word paid sample so you can assess my handling of your voice, dialogue, and terminology before committing to a larger project.
