Stolen passwords are the number one way small businesses get hacked. MFA and Conditional Access stop most of those attacks, but a rushed rollout can lock your whole team out. I set it up in safe, staged steps.
What I do:
- Plan the rollout with you and pick the right MFA methods (Authenticator app, passkeys)
- Create an emergency break-glass admin account so you are never locked out
- Build baseline Conditional Access policies: require MFA, block legacy sign-ins, protect admins
- Roll out in batches with a pilot group first, so nobody loses a day of work
- Give your staff a one-page guide for setting up the Authenticator app
- Hand you a runbook of every policy, why it exists, and how to undo it

Will my team get locked out?
No. Policies start in report-only mode, a small pilot group goes first, and an emergency admin account is excluded so you always have a way back in.
Which Microsoft 365 license do I need?
MFA works on any plan. Conditional Access needs Entra ID P1, which is included in Business Premium and E3/E5. If you are on Basic or Standard, I can set up Security Defaults instead.
