Who am I?
My name is Peculiar, and I am a freelance translator with more than 5 years of experience. I grew up in a bilingual family and have lived in the Netherlands and Germany for over 10 years each. I also obtained a university degree in both countries. Therefore, I speak Dutch, German and English at C2 level, and am the ideal person to help you with your translations from and to English, German and Dutch.

Are you a native German / Dutch speaker?
Yes. I was born in the Netherlands, but moved to Germany at a young age, where I also obtained my bachelor's degree. Afterwards, I moved backed to the Netherlands to get my Master's degree. I have spoken both languages daily for the past 26 years.
I have a very technical document. Can you translate that?
As someone with a bachelor's and master's degree in science, I am an incredibly efficient researchers. This has allowed me to translate documents from all sorts of industries, and I have yet to stumble upon a document that I couldn't translate.
My translation is longer than the amount of words in your packages. Is that a problem?
Not at all! In general, I always recommend reaching out to me before placing an order. That way, I can send you a custom offer that is adjusted to the word count of your document.
I want you to translate my website. Can you do it directly in the back-end?
Unfortunately, for privacy reasons, I cannot work directly in your back-end. Of course, I'd be happy to provide you with your website translation in a format that shows you clearly what text goes where. (Side-by-side format)
Do you translate software strings?
Generally speaking, that won't be a problem. However, please reach out to me beforehand to discuss the best way to approach the project.
Is there any content you don't translate?
I don't provide translations of anything that goes against Fiverr's Terms of Service.
What formats do you translate?
I translate various document formats, ranging from the standard Microsoft Office formats to PDFs and .srt files. If you have a file type that is less common (e.g., .json), make sure to reach out before placing an order.
I need a certified translation. Can you do that?
For some legal documents, you may need a certificate with your translation that states that the translator speaks both languages fluently. If you need a certification of translation, feel free to reach out!
Do you translate XLF/XLIFF files?
Unfortunately, I currently do not have a licence for software such as Trados to edit such files. However, if you have a platform available on which I can edit these files, I'd be happy to take a look.
