Senior Electronics Reverse Engineer Physical PCB to Gerber Schematic Recovery
About this Gig
I will reverse engineer physical PCB to schematic and modern gerber files.
Have an obsolete, damaged, or undocumented circuit board? I transform legacy hardware into production-ready digital blueprints. Using advanced hardware forensic techniques and EDA tools (Altium / KiCad), I deliver an exact digital twin with 100% electrical and functional accuracy.
️ What This Gig Covers:
- Legacy Modernization: Recreating undocumented industrial, automotive, or consumer electronics.
- Multi-Layer Tracing: Netlist extraction for simple 1-2 layer to complex multi-layer PCBs.
- Component Remapping: Replacing obsolete or proprietary ICs with modern, active parts.
Your Deliverables Package:
- Editable Schematic: Clean, multi-sheet files (.SchDoc / .kicad_sch).
- Modern Gerber Files: Industry-standard Gerber X2 / RS-274X and NC drill packages.
- Clean BOM: Spreadsheet with manufacturer numbers and direct sourcing links (DigiKey/Mouser).
- 3D STEP Model: Accurate 3D CAD files for mechanical enclosure fitment.
️ PLEASE MESSAGE ME BEFORE ORDERING. Pricing and timeline depend heavily on layer count, size, and component density. Send clear top/bottom photos for a free evaluation and custom offer!
FAQ
Do I need to ship the physical board to you, or can you work from photos?
For simple 1 or 2-layer boards with clearly visible traces, high-resolution flatbed scans or clear macro photos may be enough. However, for multi-layer PCBs (4+ layers), hidden inner traces, or boards with densely packed components, you will need to ship the physical board to my workbench.
What happens if components on the physical board are obsolete or have sanded/erased markings?
If an Integrated Circuit (IC) has its markings erased or is completely obsolete, I use hardware forensic techniques, circuit topology analysis, and pinout deduction to identify its function. I will then map out an active, modern, pin-compatible alternative from global distributors like DigiKey.
What software do you use, and will I get the original project source
I primarily design using Altium Designer and KiCad EDA. Every package tier includes the original, fully editable source files (such as .SchDoc and .PcbDoc for Altium, or native project directories for KiCad). If your engineering team has a specific preference, please let me know before we begin.
Can you sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to protect my intellectual property?
Absolutely. I respect your intellectual property and proprietary designs. I am fully willing to review and sign a standard mutual NDA before you share sensitive project files, high-resolution photos, or ship the physical hardware to me.
