What is the difference between proofreading and line editing?
Proofreading focuses on grammar, spelling, punctuation, typos, capitalization, and basic consistency. Line editing goes further by improving sentence structure, clarity, readability, repetition, word choice, and flow while preserving the author's original voice.
Will you rewrite my book?
No. The goal is to improve your existing writing while preserving your voice. The Premium package includes rewriting of problematic sentences or passages where necessary for clarity, but it does not include ghostwriting or completely rewriting a manuscript.
Will I be able to see the changes you make?
Yes. You will receive a version with tracked changes so you can see the edits made to your manuscript. You will also receive a clean edited copy without visible markup.
What types of manuscripts do you accept?
Fiction, nonfiction, memoirs, novels, short stories, and other long-form manuscripts. If a project has unusual requirements, please contact me before ordering. For children's books, take a look at my other gig, tailored specifically for kids' books.
What if my manuscript is longer than the package word count?
Additional words can be added to the order. For full-length manuscripts or particularly large projects, make sure to contact me beforehand so the correct delivery time and scope can be arranged.
Do you use American or British English?
Either. You should specify the preferred convention when placing the order. If no preference is provided, I will follow the existing style of the manuscript whenever it is consistent.
Do you fact-check the manuscript?
No. Fact checking is not included.
Do you check for plagiarism?
No. Plagiarism checking is not included.
Do you provide AI detection?
No. The gig is focused on careful human proofreading and editing rather than AI-content detection.
What file format should I send?
Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) is preferred because it allows edits to be clearly displayed using Track Changes. If the manuscript is only available in another format, make sure to contact me before ordering.
