My name is Piers Horner and I worked in the Civil Service for almost a decade, mostly in senior roles. I have participated in many recruitment campaigns, sifting applications and interviewing candidates for both generalist and specialist posts at various levels.

A Civil Service career can be extremely rewarding, but the application and interview process are often daunting for external applicants, candidates at the start of their careers or those who have not interviewed for a long time. It's easy to get overwhelmed with terminology and the pressure to provide comprehensive evidence against core competencies.
