Alpha readings tend to have a lot of criticism. If you are sensitive to this type of feedback, please consider other options.
Alpha readings are for books that have not been professionally edited.
I will provide you with a feedback letter covering the following:
- Readability of your manuscript. How quickly did the reading go, was it enjoyable, and where did it drag?
- Reader’s opinion. What did I think of your plot, your characters, and your writing style?
- Positives and negatives. What about your book did I love or hate?
- Questions. As a reader, what questions did I have about the story? It’s up to you to decide whether this is what you want readers to be asking themselves.
- Brief follow-up discussion. Limited to broad question and answer format.
Feedback will be provided in the form of a PDF. You are welcome to submit a list of questions as a guide, but they will not be reviewed until after the reading and after the letter is written.
Types of manuscripts accepted for alpha reading:
- Novellas
- Novels
Nonfiction is not accepted for alpha reading at this time.

I came into this with the wrong assumption, which I based on the comments. For the price, I thought I’d receive insightful, professional feedback, however, it felt very generic. The response to my enquiry about feedback was that an Alpha read is more of a reading to see if the story is good to continue....
