Upgrading from CentOS 7 to AlmaLinux 8 on a cPanel server is a complex process that requires careful planning and execution, so It is recommended to contact me first, to discuss the plan for the OS upgrade,
Please DO NOT PLACE direct orders to avoid any confusion.
cPanel & WHM version 110 will be the last version that supports CentOS 7. Support for version 110 will end June 30, 2024, so every user using Centos7 will have to migrate to an AlmaLinux 8 or CloudLinux 8 server before June 30, 2024.
Important points to know before proceeding with the upgrade
- The OS upgrade is a critical task and involves the risk of downtime
- If the server will change then the DNS will also need to update and it may take up to 24 hours to reflect changes.
- Your server must have Centos 7 running on the server.
- Your server must have cPanel/WHM control panel installed
- You must have root user access to the server
- Your VPS/Server host should provide a tool/option to re-load the server with AlmaLinux 8
- Server hardware and software should be compatible with AlmaLinux 8.

Will it cause a downtime ?
Upgrading the OS is crucial, but the manual or cPanel upgrade tool can cause server crashes. If this happens, server reloading and account restoration are necessary. However, as an experienced server administrator, I can handle the recovery process smoothly and without data loss.
Is there chance of data loss ?
I'll securely back up your cPanel accounts and system configuration files to your preferred remote location. This way, in the event of a server crash, we can quickly and safely restore all data from the backup.
What access you will need?
To upgrade your server's OS, I'll need your server IP address, SSH port number, and root user password to access your WHM Linux server. I'll also require access to your server/VPS provider's control panel, as it's necessary to reload the server with the new OS.
Can we schedule the OS upgrade task?
Absolutely, please let me know your preferred time, and if I am available, I'll start the upgrade task at that time.
What other information do you need?
If you have any third-party applications installed on your server, such as ffmpeg, Shoutcast, or any software that is not included by default with cPanel/WHM setup, please inform me in advance.
