How is beta reading different from editing?
A beta read tells you how your story lands for a real reader: what hooks, drags, confuses, or moves them. An editor fixes the prose line by line. I do the former. I will name a recurring issue if I spot one, but I will not copyedit or rewrite. A line edit or proofread is a separate service.
What do you read?
Epic and long fantasy and romantasy are my home turf, and I welcome the long manuscripts and explicit content that many beta readers avoid. I also read adjacent genres like dark fantasy, grimdark, and sci-fi. Not sure if I am a fit? Message me before ordering, and I will tell you honestly.
Will you read explicit or mature content?
Yes. Spice, violence, dark themes, all welcome, and no content warnings required. I read romantasy the way its fans do. If it is on the page, I will read it and tell you how it works.
My manuscript is longer than your packages. Can you still read it?
Absolutely, long books are my specialty. Anything over 120,000 words is a custom quote at an extra $25 per additional 10,000 words. Message me with your final word count and I will send an exact offer and timeline.
What exactly will I receive?
A reader report with a section on each craft area (hook, pacing, plot, characters, world, emotion, clarity, ending), every note tied to a chapter or scene, plus my live reactions, a priority takeaway, and an honest verdict on whether I would keep reading. Standard and Deep Dive include full report.
How honest will the feedback be?
Honest, but never harsh. I lead with the specific lines and scenes that worked, and every criticism comes with a concrete suggestion. My job is to help, not to flatter or to crush. You will always know where you stand and why.
What format should I send, and is my work safe?
Word (.docx) or PDF, whichever you prefer. Your manuscript is confidential. I never share it, and it stays yours alone.
How long will it take?
Delivery times are on each package: 4 days for an opening read, up to 10 for a full beta read, up to 14 for a full novel. Longer epics get a timeline with your custom quote. Need it sooner? Message me before ordering and I will tell you what is possible.
Can you read just my opening chapters?
Yes. The Opening Read covers your first chapters, ideal for testing your hook before a full read or polishing pages for a query letter or contest.
