Hello! My name is Simon Payne, and I've been teaching chess for about 3 years. I work with players rated between 100 and 2000. In our first lesson, I will analyze one or more of your games to try to understand the patterns behind your mistakes and bring out the true cause of your lack of improvement. I will then give you a training plan based on your weaknesses so that you can train more efficiently and effectively. During follow-up lessons, we will review your progress and train your weakest areas.

Hi! I began playing competitive chess at 14 and climbed from 900 USCF in 2022 to a peak of 2088. While currently less active, I aim to return and pursue the FM title. I’ve coached for 3 years, working with beginners to intermediate players (below 1800). My lessons focus on hard work, deep game analysis, identifying root causes of mistakes, and building personalized training routines to target weaknesses and break through plateaus.
