About this Gig
**PLEASE MESSAGE BEFORE YOU ORDER: I'm happy to work on longer projects and to send custom offers where the price more accurately reflects your word count!
This gig offers developmental edits alone. If you'd like BOTH developmental and line edits, see my other gigs. This gig is most like a BETA READ.
My developmental approach focuses on:
- The big picture of your story
- Plot (continuity, plot holes)
- Structure
- Characterization
- POV
- Pacing
- Voice
In your critique, you can expect:
- Genuine reactions to your writing (incl. in-line comments)
- Sensitively written critique (incl. positives)
- An editorial letter at the end of the document that summarizes/expands on my thoughts (250/450/650 words, changes by package).
IMPORTANT: I only accept documents in Word format (.docx) OR Google Docs. If using Google Docs, I'll make a copy and share it upon delivery.
NOTES:
- I focus on the quality of edits needed to help you achieve your vision, NOT the quantity. I will use my judgement to decide when and where commentary is necessary.
- Longer projects are subject to extensions in delivery timeline.

FAQ
What genres do you edit?
I am open to editing ALL genres (except for erotica). I have most experience editing: literary fiction, contemporary, thriller, horror, YA, fantasy, and sci-fi. Please contact me if you're unsure!
My word count is slightly above XYZ package. Will you still edit my piece?
If your word count goes over the package offered by <1000 words, please message me before placing an order and I can draft a custom offer that more accurately reflects your word count.
Can you edit PDFs?
Unfortunately, no, as I need an editable document to leave comments. I only accept Word and Google Docs at this time.
Can I submit excerpts of a longer work?
Yes (but please let me know). For example, if you'd like the Basic 3000-Word Package, you can submit up to 3000 words of an 8000-word story. Please note: if you send a partial draft, my critique may reflect that (i.e., I may comment on elements that are mentioned later).
