There are various mechanics within the idle genre.

2. Arcade Idle game: Play simple arcade games that have mass appeal (Idle Invaders, Idle Sweeper, Idle Flipper)
3. Merge Idle game: Duplicate items on top of each other to increase their level (Merge Plane,Merge Dragons)
4. Idle Simulation game: Manage your upgrades (Idle Miner Tycoon, Sim City)
5. Idle Management game: Manage a life/ company (Football Manager, Groundhog Life)
6. Story Driven: (Trailer Park Boys: Greasy Money)
7. Idle RPG: (Clicker Heroes, Tap Titans)
