About this Gig

As an author of 10+ books in multiple genres, even hitting the top 10 on Amazon with my fantasy novels and top 25 with my romance, I can use my expertise to help you.
Now with budget and premium options, I will beta read your book in two ways:
Budget: For a flat fee, I will read your book and provide a 2-5 page feedback letter with actionable feedback. (No comments in the doc are included, length of letter depends on book needs.)
Premium: For a flat fee, I will read your book, comment within the document, AND provide a 2-5 page feedback letter with actionable feedback. On average, I comment 100+ times on my books with genuine reactions, questions about the world, feedback, and more. I'll call out my favorite lines, when I think things are confusing, and predictions if I feel like I'm seeing some foreshadowing. Premium feedback means I will spend between 10-20 hours on your book, depending on length.

Do you use AI to provide feedback?
All feedback is from my tired human brain! You are paying for feedback to help your readers, so I'll read your book like any other reader would.
What am I getting with this gig?
Positive and constructive feedback in a 2-3 page letter and comments in your doc. Amount of comments varies, but some of what I may share are my favorite parts, reactions, predictions, and questions about the world. You'll have my actual reactions to your work.
What experiences qualify you for beta reading?
I have published over ten books across three pen names, hitting the top 100 charts of Amazon multiple times. My main genres are romance and fantasy, but I read widely, typically over 100 books a year. At one point, a small press offered me an editing position and I turned them down!
My book has smut in it, will you read it?
Yes, I'm happy to read books that have smut! I also take LGBTQ+ couple novels as well.
What format will I receive the feedback in?
I provide feedback on Google Docs (instead of Word) through comments and a feedback letter.
What kind of feedback do you provide?
I share both good and constructive feedback. I will let you know what is most exciting about your work and am encouraging throughout the process, while also sharing where you can grow.
Do you accept work with triggering content?
Yes, please provide a list of potentially triggering content in the gig requirements section after you order as this helps me know if your tone of voice suits the content and genre. I accept all kinds of fantasy works, but message me if you have any questions or concerns before ordering.
Is this an editing gig?
I do not do line, developmental, or proofread edits. I may occasionally point out a common issue in those areas as feedback based on my experience with editors, but I am not an editor. This is a beta reading/reader report gig. If you need an editor, let me know and I'll recommend my editor to you.
Are you a sensitivity reader?
I am not a sensitivity reader, but if anything pops out to me as potentially problematic I will include it in my critique. I cannot guarantee I will be aware of any of these needs, so if this is a concern I recommend another gig.
Does my novel need to be edited first?
No! Beta reports are most helpful before you finish all your edits, as you have more information to guide your edits with reader reports.
