I'm Renel, a native German-speaking author and ghostwriter with publishing experience. I help you identify what strengthens your manuscript, where readers may lose interest or understanding, and how to revise.
For fiction, I examine plot, character arcs, motivation, pacing, point of view and continuity. Are turning points convincing? Do relationships develop naturally? Does the ending fulfil the story's promises?
For nonfiction, I focus on structure, logical progression and reader understanding. Does each chapter support your central message? Are important ideas clearly developed and connected?
My approach combines an author's understanding of the writing process with an editor's analytical perspective. I explain why something isn't working, suggest practical ways forward and help you prioritise changes while respecting your voice, genre and creative intentions.

What is developmental editing?
I assess your book’s content and structure: plot, characters, pacing and continuity in fiction; organisation, logic and reader understanding in nonfiction. You receive practical guidance for revision.
Which package should I choose?
Basic includes a manuscript assessment. Standard adds comments and suggestions in your manuscript. Premium also includes targeted rewriting of agreed passages. Send me an excerpt if you need help choosing.
Which languages do you work in?
This gig covers German and English manuscripts. We can communicate in German or English, and your editorial report can be in either language.
Can I submit an unfinished manuscript?
Yes. I can assess an excerpt or work in progress. Feedback is limited to the submitted text; a synopsis helps explain your plans. Assessing the full plot, character arcs or argument requires the complete manuscript.
How much rewriting does Premium include?
We agree on the passages and extent of rewriting before ordering. I preserve your voice and intentions. Your selected word count covers the manuscript being assessed, not a rewrite of every word.
Is proofreading included?
Proofreading is a separate add-on, covering spelling, grammar and punctuation. A final proofread is best done after developmental revisions.
What do I need to provide?
Upload your manuscript as a Word file (.docx). Include your genre, target readers, main concerns and a synopsis or outline if available. Mention essential creative choices. For Premium, we agree on the rewriting scope first.
What does the revision cover?
One round of clarifications and adjustments within the original brief, including my rewritten passages in Premium. A reread of your revised manuscript, new chapters or additional rewriting requires a separate offer.
What are Series Development Notes?
This add-on provides 1–2 pages on potential sequels, character arcs, open storylines and continuity, based on the manuscript in your order. Reading other volumes or fully outlining sequels is not included.
What does the Synopsis add-on include?
A German synopsis of up to 800 words covering the main plot, character development and ending, with one revision. It is based on the complete manuscript in your order. Share any submission guidelines before ordering.
