Are you writing your first book and need some early structural feedback? Or have you been in the query trenches, wondering if your story could be just a bit better? Either way, I've got you covered!
My expertise lies in fantasy stories, whether that be urban, young adult, spicy, or epic tales. I read extensively in this genre and have also written a book in this genre. I know the story beats, the tropes, and the things people love to see on page. I'm happy to read outside of these genres, but I ask that you reach out first so I can make sure it's a good fit.
Every developmental editor provides feedback in a different way. Here's what you can expect from me:
- in-line comments short developmental notes on paragraphs/sections
- a highlight key & corresponding manuscript highlights notating patterns such as showing over telling, etc
- A detailed edit letter with what's working and what could be pushed further. For a novel this is typically 6-15 pages long.

How do I get a free sample chapter to see if we'd be a good fit?
Please reach out to me via messages to get a sample chapter! Note that I only provide this for manuscripts at or over 50,000 words. If your manuscript is under 50,000 words, I can provide a sample page :)
How do I know if I need a developmental edit?
I would suggest a developmental edit to any first-time book writer OR if you have beta readers who give comments about the pacing of your book feeling off, the character motivations not aligning, large inconsistencies or plot holes, or any other feedback that relates to large sections of the book.
Why should I choose you?
I am genuinely passionate about books and storytelling and have extensive training in reviewing writer's work. I offer kindness and compassion with every edit, and I'll tell you if something isn't working, even if it requires a major re-write. I'm available for video calls as well if needed!
What is a developmental edit?
A developmental edit seeks to strengthen plot, character arcs, pacing, and things that impact large sections of a book. Think of it as baking and stacking the layers of a cake on top of each other.
What is an edit letter?
An edit letter highlights overall thoughts on a manuscript and includes both what is working well and what could use improvement. It is where I'll point out broad themes, speak about larger plot adjustments, and reference back to line-level comments I made in the draft.
Do any of your tiers include proofreading?
Nope! I am not a trained proof editor. If you're looking for someone to help with punctuation, typos, and the like, you're better off with someone else :)
