I will draft an airtight franchise renewal agreement

About this Gig
Here's what most franchisors don't realize: a renewal is the one moment you get to fix everything you got wrong the first time. Miss it, and you're locked into ten-year-old fees, outdated standards, and a franchisee who can still drag up old disputes and sue you.
I am Robert Brown Hoffman (U.S. Bar #48020). I've seen renewals handled as a rubber stamp, and I've seen the lawsuits that follow. I draft them so that never lands on you.
When their term ends, the leverage is yours. I make sure you actually use it.
I reset the money your current royalties and marketing fees replace the cheap numbers they signed years ago. I bind them to your newest manual, technology, and brand standards, so no more grandfathered exceptions. If you want a remodel or equipment upgrade, I make it a hard condition of signing. And the piece most franchisors forget: a General Release, forcing them to waive every claim against you from the past term before they get to renew.
Before you order, send me the original agreement and your renewal date. I'll tell you exactly how to play it and which package fits.

FAQ
Why can't we just sign a one-page extension?
Because an extension keeps them on 10-year-old rules. Your fees have gone up. Your technology has evolved. Your brand standards have changed. A formal renewal forces them to adopt your current system and gives you the chance to secure a General Release of Claims. An extension does neither.
What is a General Release of Claims?
It is a legal shield. It prevents the franchisee from renewing their contract and then immediately suing you over a dispute from five years ago. Without it, you are renewing the relationship with a target on your back. With it, the slate is clean.
Can I force them to remodel their location upon renewal?
Yes. If your original agreement allows for it, I will draft capital upgrade requirements into the renewal terms. New equipment, updated technology, mandatory remodels—they comply, or they do not get to renew. Period.
What if I am the franchisee, not the franchisor?
Select the Basic package. I will review the renewal contract your franchisor handed you, identify toxic clauses, and tell you exactly what you should push back on before signing. Do not sign third-party paper without an audit.
How specific do we need to be with the updated terms?
Extremely specific. Vague language like "updated fees to be determined later" is unenforceable garbage. I need your exact current fee schedule, technology requirements, and brand standards so I can write them into the contract with zero ambiguity.
The franchisor sent me a renewal that looks identical to my old contract. Is that normal?
No. That is a massive red flag. If the renewal does not reflect your current system standards, you are signing away your right to enforce modern rules. Send it to me before you sign anything. I will tear it apart and tell you what they are trying to slip past you.
