About this Gig
Agents and editors see many submissions in their inboxes every week, so the quality of your query matters almost as much as the book itself. For writers of adult and YA fiction, I can offer you honest and constructive feedback on your query letter, synopsis, and the first couple of pages/chapters of your manuscript, and help you craft an impressive pitch for any genre.
If you choose to work with me, I'm also happy to offer general publishing advice and help you answer any questions you have about the industry!

- 5+ years as a publishing professional, in Editorial and Sales
- 6+ years of experience as a freelance editor
- Experience working or interning at 2 out of 5 of the Big Five publishers
- Certificate in publishing, Columbia Publishing Course, Columbia Journalism School
- BA in English literature

FAQ
How will you deliver your critique?
I will mark up your Word document with comments in the margins. If you request proofreading or line edits, I will use Track Changes in Word. If you prefer an editorial letter to comments in the margins, please let me know.
Will you critique my nonfiction query letter, proposal overview, and/or book proposal?
Yes! Please message me the details and I can send you a custom order with a price comparable to this gig.
Will you edit my manuscript or book proposal?

Kate's notes/edits really pushed me to polish my submission materials to the best (and clearest) versions they could be. She was very kind as well, noting what was done well and where improvements could be made. Delivery was speedier than expected too, and she also helped me determine which version of my queries was strongest!
