I will be your developmental editor
About this Gig
Whether you're a seasoned author with multiple published works, or a working on your very first novel, a Developmental Edit is always helpful in making sure your project on the right track!
After sending me your current manuscript, I will proceed with a close reading of it that includes handwritten annotations of my initial thoughts/impressions. Afterwards, I will go through the doc again and make focused comments/suggestions to help you bring out the very best in your work going forwards. If you have any areas you would like me to focus on, please don't hesitate to let me know!
What's included:
- A full markup of your project focused on improving plot, character, structure, flow and worldbuilding.
- An Editorial Assessment - Which is a fancy way of saying I'm going to write a two page+ report on my thoughts, and constructive feedback on steps you can take towards making you project stronger.
I also offer a free sample edit to all prospective clients of around 500 words so you can see if I'm a good fit or not!
**Please note, that I do not use any AI tools during my editing process and would appreciate if you refrained from sending me AI written works. Thank you!
Delivery style preference
Please inform the freelancer of any preferences or concerns regarding the use of AI tools in the completion and/or delivery of your order.
FAQ
Is this a Proofread?
What I do tends to be more big picture focused, looking at things like overall plot, pacing, theme, characters ect. rather than looking for grammar, spelling and formatting errors.
What's more important, using the max word count for my chosen package or sticking to the 'first chapter'/'first arc' mentioned in the description?
My perspective is this: If the chapter/ arc you have written is less than the max word count for your chosen package, then focus on the word count and absolutely let me know how far into the next chapter/arc I'll be reading.
