I will design plastic pcb consumer electronics enclosure, snap fit, mold dfm solidworks

About this gig
Do you have an internal PCB (circuit board) that needs a sleek, manufacturable plastic shell? Are you worried about manufacturing issues when you send your files for injection molding?
I specialize in Plastic Electronic Enclosure CAD Design and Mold Design Analysis. A beautiful plastic enclosure is useless if it has sink marks, warping, or impossible undercuts. I design enclosures with strict DFM (Design for Manufacturing) principles. Whether you need a simple 3D-printed prototype or a high-volume injection-molded housing with complex snap-fits, I ensure it fits your electronics perfectly.
Services included:
- Plastic enclosure CAD design around your internal PCB
- Designing buttons, screen cutouts, and screw posts
- Snap-fit mechanism engineering
- Injection molding DFM (Draft angles, uniform wall thickness)
- Designing ribs, bosses, and optimal parting lines
Why choose me:
- Eliminates expensive tooling mistakes
- Perfect component clearance guaranteed
- Native CAD source files provided

FAQ
How do you ensure my internal PCB will fit perfectly inside the plastic enclosure?
You (or your electrical engineer) will send me the 3D STEP file of your PCB. I import that directly into my CAD software and build the plastic enclosure strictly around your components, leaving the exact necessary clearance gaps.
What is DFM and why is it important for plastic product design?
DFM (Design for Manufacturing) ensures your design can actually be injection molded. I analyze and apply proper wall thickness, add structural ribs, and apply draft angles so the plastic part can eject from the steel mold without breaking.
Can you design snap-fit enclosures so I don't have to use screws?
Yes! Snap-fit joints are excellent for consumer devices. I calculate the proper cantilever length and undercut depth so the two halves of your enclosure snap together securely but can still be manufactured.
Will you design the parting lines for the mold?
Yes. In the Premium package, I optimize the location of the parting line (where the two halves of the steel mold separate) to ensure it is aesthetically hidden and doesn't interfere with ports or buttons.
What if I don't have a 3D file of my PCB yet?
If you don't have a 3D file, you can send me a top-down photo with exact caliper measurements (Length x Width) and the precise locations of the mounting holes, USB ports, and buttons. I will build a "dummy" PCB to design around.
What files do I send to my injection molding factory?
You will send them the final 3D STEP files of the enclosure. Because I have already applied the draft angles, bosses, and ribs, the factory will be able to easily design the steel tooling around my files.
