FAQ
What data or files do I need to send you before we begin?
You need to share your functional requirements, operating voltage/current, dimension limits, and any preferred LED datasheets. If you have a specific enclosure file (DXF or STEP), sending that over ensures the PCB dimensions align with your housing.
Why should I choose an MCPCB or aluminum substrate over standard FR4 for LEDs?
High power COB LEDs convert a significant amount of electricity into heat. Metal Core PCBs (MCPCBs) use an aluminum base with a thermally conductive dielectric layer to quickly pull heat away from the LED junction, preventing thermal throttling and extending operational lifespan.
How do you address thermal layout issues on high power COB designs?
I calculate thermal resistance, trace widths, and heat sinking requirements using dedicated tools. The layout incorporates solid copper fills, direct thermal pads, optimized thermal via arrays, and correct board layer stackups to spread heat efficiently across the aluminum substrate.
Which CAD software will you use to design my LED PCB?
I perform all schematic capture and PCB layout inside KiCad EDA. This allows me to provide clear native source files, clean 2D schematic documentation, accurate 3D STEP models, and production-standard fabrication outputs
Are the delivered Gerber and BOM files completely ready for manufacturing?
Yes. You receive industry-standard Gerber RS-274X/X2 files, NC drill files, and a structured BOM CSV containing active manufacturer part numbers and supplier links. These files can be submitted directly to fabricators like JLCPCB, PCBWay, or local assembly houses.
Can you shape the LED board to fit inside a custom, non-standard enclosure?
Absolutely. I can import custom DXF outlines or 3D STEP models into KiCad to match complex physical geometries, custom mounting hole patterns, and tight mechanical tolerances.
