I will calculate beams and headers for an adu or home addition
Load checks for additions, conversions, and added living space
About this Gig
Planning an ADU or home addition? Get beams and headers checked for gravity loads, reactions, bearing demands and practical depth limits before materials are ordered.
I provide focused member calculations from client-supplied ADU and addition plans, dimensions, sections and framing information.
My service can include:
- Gravity load and tributary-area calculations
- Wood, LVL, PSL or steel member sizing
- Strength and deflection checks
- Beam and header end reactions
- Bearing length requirements
- Post and supporting-wall demands
- Roof, floor and opening load transfer
- Member schedule with stated assumptions
This service is suitable for attached or detached ADUs, new bedrooms, family room additions and similar small residential expansions.
Send complete plans, framing spans and direction, opening widths, roof geometry, material preferences, project city/state and known wind, snow or seismic criteria before ordering. Highlight every member to be checked.

FAQ
Do you create the ADU or addition plans?
No. This service begins with client supplied plans and covers only the agreed beam and header calculations. The supplied plans must clearly identify dimensions, framing and the members requiring review.
How do you count the members included in each package?
Each independently spanning beam or header counts as one member. Identical members with the same span, loading and support conditions may be treated as one repeated member after review.
Can you work with incomplete plans?
Message me before ordering. Missing sections, framing directions, dimensions or load information may prevent calculations or require a smaller preliminary scope with clearly stated assumptions.
