FAQ
Do you teach complete beginners?
Absolutely. No previous guitar experience is required. I can start with the basics and build the lessons around your pace and goals.
Can I request a specific song?
Yes. If you enjoy the first lesson, we can continue working together regularly and build on what we covered from session to session.
What happens during the first lesson?
We’ll briefly go over your experience, what kind of music you like, and what you want to learn. From there, we’ll start playing and work on material suited to your current level.
Can you help me if I’m self-taught?
Definitely. If you’ve already been learning on your own, we can identify gaps in your playing, improve your technique, and build from what you already know.
Can you help me with music theory?
Yes. I can incorporate music theory into the lesson and explain how concepts like scales, chords, keys, intervals, and progressions actually apply to the guitar.
Do I need to know how to read music?
No. I can teach using our ears, tablature, chord diagrams, demonstrations, and other methods depending on what works best for you. If you want to learn standard notation or music theory, we can work on that too.
Are the lessons personalized?
Yes. Lessons are based on your current skill level, musical interests, and what you actually want to accomplish rather than following the exact same curriculum for every student.
What do I need for an online lesson?
You’ll need a guitar, a device with a camera and microphone, and a stable internet connection. An amplifier is helpful for electric guitar but is not required.
What styles of guitar do you teach?
I can help with a variety of styles including rock, alternative, blues, pop, metal, and general acoustic or electric guitar playing. If you have a particular style in mind, feel free to ask before booking.
