What are the softwares used for calculations?
I use manual J D S methods, Carrier HAP or Trace 700 which performs accurate calculations, For deliberate analysis, I use Energyplus or eQUEST which are highly recommended by ASHRAE. Also I have some smart tools for duct and pipe sizing. For system designs and modelling, I can use Revit or Auto CAD.
What are the standards and guidelines used for designs?
I am familiar with AHRI, ASHRAE and CIBSE guides. For duct specifications, I use SMACNA which is also American.
What is the best type of HVAC system for a house?
It heavily depends on the occupancy schedules. In most of the situations, multi split systems and mini VRVs gives smart solutions.
In what type of situations, VRV systems are preferred over split systems?
When the pipe path distance between indoor and outdoor unit exceeds about 10m or height difference exceeds 5m. When locations available for outdoor units are restricted and all outdoor units should be installed in a specific location. When ducted systems are required.
Do you use manual J D S protocol?
Yes. I do manual J calculations, manual D duct sizing and manual S equipment selection. I have the proficiency in using online softwares such as cool calc for manual J.
