What exactly does a beta reader do?
A beta reader reads your manuscript from a reader’s point of view and provides feedback on things like plot flow, pacing, character development, and overall readability. It’s not editing — it’s about how your story feels to the reader.
Is this the same as book editing or proofreading?
No. A beta reader focuses on big-picture story elements, not grammar or line edits. However, if you need editing or proofreading, I can provide those services separately. Send me a message and we'll work up a quote based on the word count of your manuscript.
What type of beta reader are you?
I beta read most genres, with a special love for fantasy, romance, and contemporary fiction. If you're not sure whether your book fits, feel free to message me first
Can you also be my sensitivity reader?
Yes. I offer sensitivity reading for African and Nigerian cultural representation. Just note that this is a separate service. If you’d like both beta reading and sensitivity reading, message me before ordering
How long will it take to get feedback?
Turnaround depends on word count and package. I always deliver on time (between 10 to 21 days), and I’ll let you know upfront if your manuscript needs a custom deadline.
If my manuscript exceeds 90k words, will you still be interested in being my beta reader or sensitivity reader?
Of course, I will be your beta reader and/or sensitivity reader. I have read books with more than 200,000 words, so any length is fine by me. Just send me a message, and I'll get a custom order made up for you!
Can I send you my manuscript again after I have made revisions?
Yes, you can. Send me a message and we'll get a custom order made for you.
What is your preferred format?
I prefer Microsoft Word docs. However, I accept PDFs too.
