Developmental Editing

This service provides authors with extensive commentary and advice for improving the organization of individual poems in the manuscript. Developmental editing hones the poems in the manuscript as individual pieces working together as a whole. I will focus on techniques such as overall tone, voice, rhythm, pace, word music, and suggestions on flow. Recommended for authors who want 'big picture' feedback and are ready to polish their work for publication.

Developmental editing is NOT:

• a total re-write of the poem(s)

Line Editing

Using track changes, I provide directed suggestions and explanatory comments line-by-line, focusing on language choice, parallelism in grammar, metaphor usage, imagery, and tone. Recommended for authors desiring to finely tune and tighten their work. 

Copy Editing

Focusing on the specific errors in grammar, punctuation, spelling, enjambment, word choice, repetition, and format in meter (sonnet, haiku, ballad, limerick, golden shovel, etc.)
