About this Gig
As an editor, my goal is to help authors create the most polished and powerful version of their story possible. I work to polish content while preserving authors unique writing style. For over 20 years, I have also worked in the field of preventing sexual and intimate partner violence and child abuse and neglect. In addition to editing services, I provide sensitivity reading for novels that include trauma, chid abuse and neglect, and sexual and intimate partner violence.

How will I receive my edits?
I use tracked changes in Microsoft Word and provide full structural editorial notes for a developmental edit. For line and copy edits, I provide a 'clean' copy, with all changes made and comments removed.

What are developmental edits?
Development editing entails top-to-tail editing. I’ll provide line-by-line feedback (i.e. track changes and comments in your manuscript) on plot, pacing, writing style, and characterization.
What does copy editing include?
Copy editing includes suggestions on clarity, consistency, eliminating repetition, and grammar. Copy editing is a sentence-by-sentence review of an almost-final draft.
What is sensitivity reading?
Sensitivity reading, also known as authenticity reading, is a type of editorial work for authors writing outside of their own experience. As a subject-matter expert in the areas of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, child abuse and neglect, I help authors write in a trauma-informed way.
