Beta Reader and Editor for Fiction Authors
About this Gig
**I am a no AI operation - all human editing, all human writing**
As a writer myself, I know how valuable a copy edit is, and I know how to treat manuscripts with passion and care. I pride myself on supporting the authors I work with, I'm not just a copy editor, Im a hype woman.
Copy editing focuses on the mechanical aspects of your writing, in line with a in-house style (mine is UK Oxford). If you have any unique style preferences in your manuscript, please let me know so these are not corrected in error should they fall outside my in-house style.
On top of polishing those sentences, I will also provide an overview of your story, highlighting where the most technical improvement is needed and where it is sound.
By the time I'm finished, your manuscript will be tidy and professional, and you will have the confidence in knowing why I've made the suggestions I have, and which ones are vital for turning your story into a page turner.
You will also receive a style sheet, which details all the editorial decisions made on your manuscript. This can be passed on to a proof-reader or formatter.
If your manuscript exceeds 120K, please reach out to me for a custom quote.

FAQ
What does a copy editor do?
A copy editor is a professional who will analyse your manuscript and suggest technical corrections that ensure your writing is clear, concise, consistent and in line with an in-house style. The purpose of a copy edit is to ensure your manuscript is professional and ready for publishing.
How do I know if my manuscript is ready for a copy edit?
A copy edit is usually the last type of edit your manuscript will receive. By the time it reaches your copy editor, the only issues that should still be present are mechanical ones, such as missing punctuation marks or typos.
What is a style sheet?
A style sheet details all the editorial style decisions made throughout your manuscript. They are typically prepared by your copy editor, as they are the ones making those style decisions. Style sheets are usually used by formatters & proof-readers in the final stages before your book is published.
What genres/categories do you copy edit?
My preferred genres (including sub-genres) are Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Thriller, Mystery, Romance & Contemporary, however I am happy to copy edit outside of these, just reach out to me and I'll be happy to advise further. Category wise, I copy edit Adult, New Adult & Young Adult.
You are UK based, are you comfortable with varying forms of English?
Yes. I am an avid reader and have read a plethora of novels from around the world. Aside from British English, I am most familiar with American English, Canadian English, and Australian English.
Do you use AI?
No. I never have, and I never will. I don’t believe AI is needed in creative spaces, nor is it welcome. AI is also not adequate enough to pick up on narrative issues due to its lack of human experience and contextual understanding.
