I will reverse engineer your file format and convert it to csv or json
About this Gig
Stuck with data locked inside a file format that nothing can open any more?
I reverse engineer undocumented binary formats and give you your data back, along with a parser you own, so you are never locked in again.
I have decoded proprietary containers with no documentation, no source code and no existing tools: headers, offset tables, custom compression, endianness, the lot.
Typical work:
Legacy business software with no export function
Output from lab, industrial or medical instruments
Proprietary CAD, project and save files
Game archives and asset containers
In-house formats whose original author left years ago
What you get:
Your data as CSV, JSON, OBJ or whatever target you need
A commented python parser you own outright
A written specification of the format so your team can maintain it
Send me two or three sample files, ideally with a screenshot of what the data should look like when opened correctly. I will tell you honestly whether the format is crackable before you order anything.

FAQ
How can you decode a format with no documentation?
By comparing samples byte by byte. Change one value in the original software, save again, and the difference shows you where that field lives. Repeat until the structure is mapped. It is patient work, not guesswork.
What if the format turns out to be encrypted?
Then I tell you before you order and I decline the job. I check for that during the free sample review. I do not break encryption or DRM.
How many sample files do you need?
Two or three is usually enough to start, and more is better. Files that differ in one known way are the most useful of all, because the difference points straight at the field.
Can you write files back out, not just read them?
Yes, that is the Roundtrip package. I verify it properly by rebuilding a file and confirming the original software opens it without complaint.
