Q. How do you decide which gear to use?

A. I listen to your mix and your reference track first. Rock and 

indie usually want Massive Passive for broad tonal shaping and 

Vari-Mu for slow, gentle glue. Soul and R&B tend to respond better 

to Pultec curves and tube saturation from the HG-2. Pop and acoustic 

material often wants a cleaner path - API 5500 and SSL G Comp.
