I will map your business process and write your software spec

About this Gig
Most people come to me asking which software to buy. Very few can describe, step by step, how the work actually gets done today. That gap is why software projects fail.
So I map the process first.
We walk through a real working day: what gets entered twice, what sits in a spreadsheet nobody trusts, what only one person knows how to do. Then I write it down and send it back to you.
What you get:
A map of how the work happens now, and where it breaks
What each bottleneck costs you, in hours and in money
A straight build / buy / automate recommendation
On the top package, a functional specification any developer can build from
The document is yours, and it is vendor-neutral. Hand it to me, to another developer, or to nobody at all.
I run a software company in Luxembourg. We build internal tools for small and mid-sized companies. If an off-the-shelf product already solves your problem, I will say so that answer is worth more to you than a build you did not need.
Tell me what is frustrating you and I will say within a day whether this is the right service for it.

FAQ
Do I have to build with you afterwards?
No. The document is vendor-neutral and it is yours. Plenty of buyers take it to their own developer, or use it to decide they do not need software at all. I would rather be honest at this stage than sell you a build.
What do you need from me?
One or two people who actually do the work, for about an hour each. Not management, and not a written brief. If you have a spreadsheet or a screenshot of the current system, send it — that saves us both time.
Which industries do you work with?
Any operations-heavy small or mid-sized company. I have done this for equipment rental, veterinary practices, field services and communications agencies. The underlying pattern is usually the same three or four functions.
We already know what we want built. Is this still useful?
Often yes, but not always. If you can already describe the process step by step and the gaps in it, skip this and go straight to a build. If you cannot, this is the cheapest week you will ever spend on the project.
Is this remote or on-site?
Remote by default — video call and screen share works fine for most processes. I am based in Luxembourg and can come on-site in the Benelux region if watching the work in person is genuinely necessary.
