1. Do not place a direct order on a grant writer's GIG without consulting him/her because testing a writer's communication is vital in grant process.

2. It's compulsory for your business to have an EIN.

3. Do not subscribe to any grant database to find grants for your organization, instead get an expert grant writer to research and find suitable grants for your organization. This is because some grant donors end up not awarding any organization with grant. An experienced and an expert grant writer will recommend grant donors with good funding histories over the past years.

4. When submitting an application, be mindful of non-profit, for-profit, scale-up business and startup business grant donors. Submitting to the wrong donor will ulter your chances of winning.
