Keys go in .env, never in the repo. Use test/sandbox keys during development and swap to live yourself at the end.
Can you build the frontend/app too?
This gig is backend only. Message me and I'll quote separately.
What if the third-party API doesn't support what I need?
I'll check its docs before you order and tell you if it isn't possible. I won't take the order and find out later.
