I'm a professional trumpeter with 16 years of playing experience and over a decade as a performer, touring across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. My journey began with classical trumpet in junior school, and in 2016, I debuted as a soloist with award-winning singer Josh Groban. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance from the South African College of Music (UCT), including an exchange at the Miles Davis Jazz Studies Program (UNC Greensboro, USA). Beyond performing and recording in various genres, I’ve taught trumpet for over five years, helping 40+ students achieve their goals.
FAQ
What If I'm not interested in learning musical notation?
That’s totally fine! I’ve taught many students who don’t read sheet music and still reach their goals. You don’t need notation to play your favourite songs - I’ll teach in a way that fits your learning style.
Do I teach complete beginners?
Absolutely! Many of my students started as total beginners. Don’t worry if you’re new - Ask as many questions as you like. I’m here to support you every step of the way!
What do I need for a lesson?
All you need is a trumpet, a computer with a microphone, a stable internet connection, and Zoom. If you have an external mic you can plug into your computer, that’s a bonus!
What does the "Intro Consultation" cover?
We’ll get to know each other and I’ll hear you play. We’ll reflect on what you'd like to improve, and if you’d like to continue, we’ll discuss your availability and create a tailored development plan.
What genres do you teach?
Any! From indie and funk to musical theatre or house, I’ll adapt to your style. Even if it’s new to me, I’ll help you explore how versatile the trumpet is - Whether you're playing along or adding your own spice to the music!
Do I need to bring my own music?
Not at all! You're welcome to bring your own songs or use the guided sheet music and pro backing tracks I offer in Premium. If you're not sure what to focus on yet, we’ll figure it out together in the lesson.
I’m doing a Trinity or ABRSM exam—can you help?
Definitely! I’ve taught Grades 1–8 for both exams. Just note that you'll need to bring your own official pieces and backing tracks, as required by exam boards.
