About this gig
I write custom JSX scripts for InDesign and Illustrator. Examples of what I can script:
- InDesign: pages or documents from a CSV/Excel file into a template
- InDesign: find and replace (including GREP) across many documents
- InDesign: batch export to PDF or IDML
- InDesign: reports of overset text, missing links, and missing fonts
- Illustrator: export text to XLIFF for a CAT tool and import the translation
- Illustrator: batch export of artboards to PDF, PNG, or SVG
Recent client work:
- An Illustrator script that exported a 160-page book to XLIFF, imported the translation, and adjusted the translated text to fit the layout.
- An InDesign UXP script that compared catalog prices with an accounting export and reported price differences.
This gig is for ExtendScript (JSX) scripts. I develop and test on Windows with InDesign 2026 and Illustrator 2026.
You get the .jsx file with its source code, short run instructions, and the result of a test on the sample files we agreed on.

I write ExtendScript (JSX) scripts for Adobe InDesign and Illustrator. Typical jobs: building documents from a CSV, batch export, find and replace across many files, sending text to a CAT tool as XLIFF and bringing the translation back, and checks for overset text or missing links before handoff.
I have produced multilingual technical documents for 17+ years and managed translation projects across 22 languages. I also sell three InDesign scripts.
I develop and test on Windows.
FAQ
What is a "single action" (Basic)?
For example, apply an existing paragraph style to paragraphs that start with a set word, or export each page of one InDesign document as a PDF with the same preset.
Can you automate any task?
Not always. I script clear, rule-based tasks that the app's scripting supports. Design decisions, text in images, and outlined text are out of scope. Message me first and I'll tell you.
Do you support macOS?
No. I develop and test on Windows only, so this gig is for Windows users.
What do revisions cover?
I fix the script if it does not produce the agreed result on your sample files. New features or new file types require a new order.
Do you translate the text too?
No. For translation work I build the export and import steps. The translation is done by you or your translator.
Do you write Photoshop scripts?
No. I offer scripts for InDesign and Illustrator only.
