I will illustrate your picture books

About this gig
Picture book/ story book illustrator. I can take your brief from concept art (also known as roughs) through to finished illustrations ready to go to the printer. My work is done in stages, so you have every opportunity to review, modify and approve each piece before its completion. Rough concept pieces and standard line art, are paid with a 50% deposit up front, and the balance upon delivery. Fully completed color full or half-spreads are paid for up front (these still include modifications in the price).
Your satisfaction and desire to work together again is my number one-priority! Your book should bring you joy and pride and I am honored to have you choose me to partner with you on this project. I bring, not only my creativity and uniqueness, but a strong business mind and ethic.
I strongly believe you should receive a quality product for your costs and that the artist should be fairly compensated for their hours of work and creative contributions.
Absolutely no A.I. or clip art used.
I am a member of the Society of Childrens Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and the Society of Illustrators (SOI).

FAQ
Why do you need a deposit?
Great question. Artists will put in several hours of work into a project and submit their offering to the client who will then take their work, use it and never pay the artist. Requiring a deposit up front shows good-faith that the writer/buyer will pay for the project upon completion.
Is it rude to request revisions?
Not at all! Getting your specific feedback is crucial to your satisfaction (and mine). Revisions are an opportunity to see how close we are to your original brief and what the next steps should be. The best way to save time and having to do revisions is by having a mood board that you can share.
What is a mood board?
Simply put it is a page or site that has your thoughts, ideas, concept, feelings, etc ‘pinned’ to it so that I can get the best ideas of what you had in your mind for your illustration. If you don’t have any idea of what you want, that is perfectly fine, since we can collaborate on a call if needed.
If I ask you to work on paper, how do I get my illustration?
Illustrations on traditional materials are scanned and the files are sent to you, much the same way, as a digital illustration.
What is a license and why do I need one?
A license allows you to use and reproduce the illustration(s). Licenses are specific to what you want to do with the product, and so, the pricing varies based on your intentions for its use. Picture book illustrations are copyrighted and a license is required from the illustrator.
