What exactly is a DFM Analysis?
DFM stands for Design for Manufacturing. It is an engineering review process where I analyze your 3D CAD file to ensure it can actually be built by real-world machines (like injection molds or CNC mills) without failing, breaking, or costing too much money.
What file formats can you review?
I can review industry-standard neutral formats like STEP (.stp) and IGES (.igs), as well as native SolidWorks (.sldprt, .sldasm) and Fusion 360 files.
Will you actually fix the errors, or just point them out?
If you order the Basic package, I will provide a detailed PDF report pointing out the errors so your original designer can fix them. If you order the Standard or Premium packages, I will personally fix the CAD geometry and send you the corrected, optimized STEP files.
Do you check for injection molding defects?
Yes! I run advanced draft analysis, undercut detection, and wall thickness checks to ensure your plastic part will not warp, suffer from sink marks, or get stuck inside the steel mold.
Can you optimize a part to make it cheaper to CNC machine?
Absolutely. CNC machines struggle with sharp internal corners and deep pockets. I will optimize your CAD design by adding proper fillets and adjusting geometry to drastically reduce the machining time (which lowers your manufacturing cost).
