FAQ
Your prices are higher than other engineers, and your delivery time is longer. Why should I work with you?
Keeping my prices higher allows me to book fewer projects, which means I'll have way more time and energy to focus on your mix. This inevitably translates to a final product of higher quality. Great mixing can't be done in bulk, nor in a rush!
Will I need to hire a different mastering engineer?
I will deliver a track that is mastered and release-ready, no need for additional expenses! With that said, if you'd prefer to work with a separate mastering engineer, I can also send you the unmastered mix.
What are the minimum requirements for my production to be considered "mix ready"?
Double track your guitars & tune them accurately! Copy-pasting the same part will not work, it will just give you a bigger mono file. Have your drums on separate stems (at least four: kick, snare, toms, cymbals). Make sure that everything is aligned and that your tracks aren't clipping!
Can I ask for a test mix before I book?
You can, but I'm often fully booked, thus it's unlikely that I'll be able to do free work. Your best bet is to listen to my portfolio and trust that, if your STEMs are well produced, that's the quality you're going to get.
Will you mix close to my reference track/test mix?
If you'd like me to, absolutely. I always double check test mixes and try to preserve the good qualities of what I hear as much as possible, while adding that extra layer of polish in the elements that need it.
Can you make my track sound professional even if I recorded it at home?
Most likely, yes! I've gotten some pretty impressive results with home-recorded tracks, provided that good care was taken during the tracking process.
Can I send you my DAW session or should I export the separate files?
Definitely export the separate files! It ensures that there will be no compatibility issues, and makes for a way better workflow.
Should I include different takes/sound sources for the same parts?
If possible, no. That's going to make me switch back into "producer" mode, which takes away the focus from the mix. Commit to the sounds & takes you're happy with, and be confident!
Can you remove clipping & noises from my tracks?
Maybe, but having great source files will always be best. Track with a level between -12db and -6db. If you're clipping, re-track. If there are unwanted noises during important parts of the song, re-track. Patience yields great results!
My STEMs are not of the greatest quality but I'd still like to have them mixed. Will you do it?
If you just started out and need guidance, don't hesitate to ask! I'll happily help you fix your production so that the mix can sound great. But if the production has big issues that the mix can't fix, I'll most likely refund your order, since that will prevent me from giving you a great product.
