About this gig
I will teach you how to play the sitar. I offer online classes via WhatsApp or any other app that you prefer. The classes will be adjusted to the genre of music for which you want to use your sitar.
My guru is Supratik Sengupta and I am trained in North Indian classical music but I also have MA in musicology so each topic will be explained in a simple manner for the people that are not familiar with rules and terms of Indian classical music.
You will learn all of the basic techniques and proper posture for the instrument, then I'll show you a traditional compositions of my gharana(school of playing) based on the most popular and important ragas. Then I will teach you how to improvise and play in a various rhythmic cycles.

I am a professional sitar player with 10 years of experience. My guru is Supratik Sengupta- a disciple of Buddhadev Dasgupta. I teach how to play the sitar in a simple manner and I teach general rules of north Indian classical music for any instrument. If you want to add an oriental feel to your songs or learn oriental scales and techniques then feel free to message me. I can record sitar/saz/guitar for your songs in all genres and styles.
The gear that I use for recording are high quality piezo-electric pickups made by BuddhaSystems.
FAQ
Do I need the sitar for our first lesson?
No, we can start with theory or you can play on any stringed instrument (eg. the guitar) in a similar manner. I will recommend you my Indian friend's shop where you can buy a fine sitar that won't be expensive.
Can you teach me only a particular raga/tala/composition/improvisation?
Yes, we don't need to start with the basics if you already know them and want to jump right into a topic of your choice.
Will you send me some materials to practice?
Yes, I will send a video for each composition. I will also write down a set of phrases for each raga. I also send exercises notations for each new technique etc.
Do you teach only classical sitar?
No! I can show you how to fit the sitar into any genre of music like EDM, jazz, rock, fusion etc.
