What is the DPMA?
The DPMA is the German Patent and Trade Mark Office responsible for national trademark applications and registrations in Germany.
Are the official DPMA fees included?
No. My package price covers my professional service only. Government filing fees are paid separately. The current electronic filing fee is €290 for up to three classes, while each additional class costs €100.
Can you conduct a trademark search before filing?
Yes. I can search for identical and similar trademarks and provide a preliminary assessment of potential conflicts before the application is prepared.
Can you help select the correct trademark classes?
Yes. I will review your products or services and help identify the relevant Nice classes. The final selection will be confirmed with you before filing.
Can I register both a name and a logo?
A word mark and a logo mark may require separate applications. Please send both before ordering so I can recommend the appropriate option.
Does filing guarantee registration?
No. Filing does not guarantee acceptance or registration. The DPMA examines the application, and earlier trademark owners may also challenge a registered mark during the applicable opposition period.
How long will my trademark remain protected?
A registered German trademark generally receives ten years of protection from its filing date and may be renewed for additional ten-year periods.
Do you handle office actions or oppositions?
Simple filing-related communication can be discussed separately. Substantive objections, oppositions, cancellations or court proceedings are not included unless expressly stated in a custom offer.
Should I contact you before ordering?
Yes, especially if you need multiple applications, more than three classes, accelerated examination, international representation or help with an existing DPMA matter.
