7 years experience of structural and developmental editing.
Pricing is straight forward. It's $25 per thousand words. Contact me with your exact word count and I can send you a custom offer based on that.
- Premise: Does it make sense? Is it easy to understand?
- Content: Are all the necessary topics sufficiently dealt with? Are the chapters weighted correctly? Is there superfluous content?
- Flow: Is the information organized logically? Are tables and illustrations used appropriately? How many levels of subheads do you need and how should they be arranged?
- Tone: Is the tone appropriate for the audience? Do you need to eliminate jargon? Is the text accessible?
- Pace: Are there passages that are bogged down in detail? Do you spend too long on detail irrelevant to the main thesis? Are there areas that need further exposition lest they be skipped over?
Comments are left throughout the manuscript, plus a summary review.

What are the different types of editing
There are three main types. A Structural Edit (or Developmental Edit) looks at the overall story and how to improve the key areas. A Line Edit is where the editor goes through strengthening the writing and changing words. A Copy Edit is where the editor looks for grammatical errors and typos
What formats do I work in
If you submit your manuscript as a word document then this will allow me to leave comments, and to track changes if you'd like alternative suggestions for lines. I can work with any other format but will only be able to send you the summary review of the work.
