Which should I choose — SPSS or Stata?
Either works well for most standard analyses (descriptives, t-tests, chi-square, ANOVA, regression). SPSS tends to be more common in psychology, health, and social science research; Stata is more common in economics and public policy. If you're not sure, tell me your field and I'll recommend one —
What format will I receive my results in?
Your choice: the native SPSS output (.spv) or syntax file (.sps), a Stata do-file and log, or a written report (Word/PDF) with formatted tables and plain-language explanations — often a combination of both the software file and a report.
