A poem can be technically polished and still leave the writer wondering whether it truly works. I provide thoughtful, specific feedback that helps you understand what the poem is doing, where it is strongest, and what may need another look.
I hold an MA in Creative Writing and spent more than a decade teaching English and literary analysis. I approach poetry as both a reader and an editor, paying attention to meaning, voice, imagery, form, rhythm, line breaks, sound, structure, and emotional effect.

Will you rewrite my poem?
No. I identify strengths, problems, and revision possibilities while protecting your voice and intent. I may suggest alternate wording or line arrangements, but the creative decisions remain yours.
What does an in-depth poem critique include?
Feedback may address meaning, imagery, voice, diction, form, rhythm, meter, sound, line breaks, structure, emotional effect, and specific revision priorities.
Will every poem in my collection receive a complete critique?
No. Portfolio and chapbook reviews focus on how the poems work together. I provide comparative feedback and selective poem-specific notes where they will be most useful.
What does the chapbook assessment cover?
It examines cohesion, sequencing, recurring themes, voice, pacing, repetition, opening and closing choices, and poems that may need revision, removal, or repositioning.
What is included in a revision?
One follow-up pass addressing the original feedback on the same submitted work. It does not include new poems, a replacement manuscript, or a second complete critique.
Can you review formal or experimental poetry?
IYes. I work with free verse, traditional forms, meter, rhyme, prose poetry, narrative poetry, and experimental work. Tell me what you are trying to accomplish so I can evaluate the poem on its own terms.
Do you use automated feedback?
No. I personally read and evaluate every submission. Your feedback is based on the language, structure, and craft choices in your work.
Can I submit more poems or a longer manuscript?
Yes, but message me first. I will review the length and scope and provide a custom offer when the listed packages do not fit.
