As a writer myself, I know how nerve-wracking those first couple dozen pages can be. We're just hoping we can keep a reader engaged and desperate to turn the page. That's why having a fresh set of eyes on your story's opening is such a handy tool!
In this fast-turnaround beta read, I will dive deep into the first 10k words of your manuscript and give you honest, "reader hook" focused feedback on how well your story pulls people in.
What you will get:
- The Hook: Does the story start in the right place, and is it compelling?
- Pacing & Flow: Where does the narrative drag, and where does it move too fast?
- Character Setup: Are your protagonist, characters, and world introduced effectively?
- Reader Impression: An honest summary of my reactions, questions, and thoughts as a first-time reader.
- Reader Report: A minimum 2-page report divided into helpful sections (characters, plot, pacing, etc.)

What file formats do you accept?
I prefer Google Dox or MS Word, but I can work with everything. Whatever is easy for you works for me!
Do you read every genre?
Sure do! While my professional background is horror, thriller and sci-fi, I'm versed in all genres of fiction. Whether it be body horror or fluffy romance, I'm here to help.
Any content/ trigger limitations?
Nope! Send it all my way, I actually prefer the darker side of literature.
What if my manuscript is a little over 10k words?
As long as it's within reason, send it over! If it's, like, 12k words, just shoot me a message and we can work out a custom order.
Do you use AI for any part of your reading or report?
Absolutely not, this is all blood sweat and tears over here.
Is my work kept confidential?
100% all files are kept confidential on my system, and deleted a week after delivery. Leaving some time for any Q&A type things you want to go over, just for my reference. If you want an extra guarantee, I'm happy to sign an NDA or similar for your peace of mind.
