I will create board game illustrations cards and tabletop game art tabletop games

About this gig
A board game lives or dies by its art. Before players read a single rule, they judge the box, the cards, the board itself. Weak art quietly kills good games.
I help creators and studios build the visual identity that makes a game feel finished character art, card illustrations, board backgrounds, and iconography that holds across every component.
What I design:
- Character and hero illustration for cards and box cover
- Card art with a consistent style across full decks
- Game board backgrounds and zone illustrations
- Custom iconography and symbol sets
- Tile and hex artwork
- Cover illustration built to sell on Kickstarter and retail
Style range runs from semi-realistic fantasy to flat modern editorial. The look follows your audience, not the other way around.
Process:
1. Reference share point me to games whose art direction fits yours
2. Style test one sample illustration so we lock the look before full scope
3. Production full set delivered in print-ready resolution
4. Revisions handled inline, not as a separate headache
If your game is heading to Kickstarter or retail, the art does heavy lifting.
Message me with your game, references, and what you have so far.

FAQ
weekly "Can an artist match [insert game]'s style?" threads on r/tabletopgamedesign and the Board Game Design Discord.
Yes — send 2–3 reference games whose art direction fits yours, and I'll do a paid style test on one illustration first so we lock the look before the full deck. I won't copy a copyrighted character, but matching the visual language (palette, brushwork, line weight) is standard practice.
Do you also design game mechanics, or just the art?
Just the art. Mechanics, balancing, and rulebook writing are separate skills — I can recommend a designer if you need one, but my work is purely the visual identity: character art, cards, board backgrounds, icons, and box cover.
How do you price — per card or per project?
Per project, scoped by card count, board complexity, and whether icons/box cover are included. Per-card pricing hurts you on small decks and rewards me on big ones — project pricing is more honest. Send the asset list and you'll have a quote within 24 hours.
I already have some cards done by another artist. Can you match their style?
Yes, common ask. Send the existing cards (high-res if possible) and I'll match line weight, palette, and composition style so the finished deck reads as one artist. If the existing art has inconsistencies, I'll flag them before we start.
Do you do the box cover too?
Yes and for Kickstarter campaigns, the box cover is the most important piece. I treat it as a separate deliverable, concept 2–3 directions before locking, and paint it at higher resolution optimized for thumbnail viewing on Kickstarter and retail shelves.
How long does a full deck take? I have about 100 cards.
A 100-card deck, painted consistently in one style, runs 4–6 weeks depending on complexity and revision rounds. If you have a Kickstarter deadline, tell me upfront — I'll commit or refer you out rather than overpromise and ship thin.
Do you do custom icons or just illustrations?
Both. Custom iconography is often an afterthought but it's critical — icons are what players reference every turn, so they need to be instantly readable at card-thumbnail size. Delivered as a vector set (SVG + PNG) so you can use them in the rulebook and box layout too.
What files do I get? Will they work with my manufacturer?
Print-ready files at 300 DPI, CMYK, with bleed and trim marks per your manufacturer's spec (Panda GM, Ludo Fact, The Game Crafter, DriveThruCards — all common). You get layered source files (PSD/Procreate) plus flattened print-ready PDFs/TIFFs. Send their spec sheet and I'll match it.
Do I own the art? Can I use it commercially?
Yes full commercial rights transfer on final delivery. Use it on the game, box, marketing, Kickstarter, retail, merch — anywhere. I keep the right to show the work in my portfolio unless you've requested an NDA. Written transfer document provided on request.
What if I don't like the first illustration?
That's why we do a paid style test first — one illustration, sign off on the look, then commit to the full deck. If the test doesn't land, we adjust direction before any production. No "I hate it on delivery day" surprises.
