Besides common errors, I edit:

1. Clutter that tests the reader's patience: When it comes to picking apples, lift the apple up and then give it a slow, gentle twist. < When picking apples, lift before giving it a gentle twist.

2. Inconsistencies that cause reader confusion: Caden and Madelyn love apple cider, but Madalyn likes it piping hot while Caden prefers it slushy-style. (Madelyn or Madalyn?)

3. Factual and logical errors that hurt trust: After eating the apples he picked, he headed home, eating one on the way back. (Where did that apple come from?)

4. Little mistakes that give the writing an amateur feel: He picked 4 apples. < He picked four apples.

Hold it!!! Your voice needs to come through, or your writing will be added to the slush pile of generic works.

Soooo... Breaking the rules = okay if done intentionally.
