Installation of Virtualization Software (Hypervisor Type 1 and Type 2)

The following virtualization platforms will be used depending on the requirements and host environment:

• VirtualBox Type 2 hypervisor for local VM testing and development
• VMware Workstation/ESXi Type 1 or 2 hypervisor, depending on the edition
• QEMU-KVM Lightweight and powerful open-source Type 1 hypervisor for Linux systems
• Proxmox VE Enterprise-grade virtualization platform built on KVM and LXC

Operating System Installation and Infrastructure Setup

After setting up the virtualization platform, I will proceed with:

• Installing the required guest operating system(s)
• Configuring the virtual networking environment:
• NAT (Network Address Translation)
• Bridged networking (for external network access)
• Setting up a load balancer with multiple network interfaces:
• One for public traffic
• Another for private/internal traffic
• Installing and configuring any additional services or infrastructure components required for the environment (e.g., DHCP, DNS, firewall, etc.)

PCI PassThrough

Another very important aspect of virtualization is pci-passthrough which means allowing VM to directly access hardware. I can also do that.
